Looking for Langston (1989)
Isaac Julien's 1989 Looking for Langston, a 45-minute black-and-white film, explores and recreates the private world of Langston Hughes and the Black artists and writers of the 1920s Harlem Renaissance. Julien made it with the Sankofa Film and Video Collective, and it became a hallmark of what B. Ruby Rich named New Queer Cinema. Guests from The Theater Offensive, the co-presenter, lead a discussion afterward.
