The Lunchbox (2013)
Ritesh Batra's 2013 debut feature The Lunchbox turns on a mistaken delivery by Mumbai's dabbawallas, the city's lunchbox couriers: Ila's cooking reaches Saajan, a widower about to retire, and the neglected housewife (Nimrat Kaur) and the clerk (Irrfan Khan) begin trading letters through the lunchbox. Beforehand, Brandeis English professor Ulka Anjaria, author of Understanding Bollywood, gives a seminar on love and desire in new Indian cinema.
