The Art of Romance
Elaine Gignilliat’s romance cover paintings, made nearly half a century ago, are on public view for the first time, and this panel looks at how she used composition, palette, historical settings and the human figure to convey drama and desire on familiar paperbacks. Her daughter, Laura Sawyer, is joined by speakers from art history and the romance community, and new paintings hang alongside those already on view.
