Jim Sharman's The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), adapted from Richard O'Brien's stage musical, follows a newly engaged couple, Brad and Janet (Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon), whose car breaks down on a rainy night near the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry). O'Brien and Meat Loaf also appear in the gender-bending musical, a long-running midnight-movie fixture known for its audience participation.
