A Generation (1955)
After watching the Nazis kill his friend in 1942 Warsaw, Stach (Tadeusz Łomnicki), a young working-class man, joins a left-wing People's Guard resistance cell in A Generation (1955), Andrzej Wajda's first feature. Shot by Jerzy Lipman with a score by Andrzej Markowski, it used a cast and crew mostly new to professional film. It begins the wartime trilogy and screens on 16mm in the Archive's centenary retrospective.
