Ken Corbett: The Primal Father on the Parental Field
Ken Corbett presents his paper on what he calls the primal father, asking how psychoanalytic theory constructs men’s engagement with children and childcare and proposing a third mode of erotic transference, the primal paternal, beside the maternal and the Oedipal. Corbett teaches at NYU’s Program in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy and wrote Boyhoods: Rethinking Masculinities and A Murder Over a Girl. Psychiatrist Cecil Webster responds; BPSI president Cary Friedman moderates.
