Dragonwyck (1946)
Dragonwyck (1946), Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s first film as director, stars Gene Tierney as a Connecticut farm girl hired as governess by a distant relative, an aristocratic Hudson Valley patroon played by Vincent Price. It is adapted from Anya Seton’s novel; Mankiewicz later won Oscars for A Letter to Three Wives and All About Eve. Victoria Price, the actor’s daughter, joins this double bill with House on Haunted Hill.
