Art Against Brutality: Community and Collaborative Art Projects with Survivors of Political Violence
Claudia Bernardi introduces her first book, Art Against Brutality, which documents decades of collaborative art-making with communities that have lived through state violence, sexual violence or displacement, beginning with the “Walls of Hope” project she founded in El Salvador in 2005. Bernardi, an Argentinian installation artist, painter and printmaker, is Emerita Professor at the California College of the Arts. She received the Justice Brandeis Practitioner-in-Residence Award in 2024.
