Acts of Recovery: Crossing Genres of Lineage and Loss
Two writers trace ancestral and artistic lineages. Tisa Bryant's memoir Residual considers what becomes an archive after her mother's death, drawing on Black women artists including Lorraine Hansberry and Octavia E. Butler; Lara Mimosa Montes called it “an inventory and an altar.” Eleni Sikelianos's Memory Rehearsal, the third book in a trilogy on her family's history, moves between queer history, ancient theater and modern poetry. Alden Jones moderates.
