Turn the Key Softly (1953)
Three women spend their first day out of prison in London: a bitter burglar, a prostitute and an elderly shoplifter, played by Yvonne Mitchell, Joan Collins and Kathleen Harrison. Geoffrey Unsworth shot the film, which the Archive calls Neorealist-influenced. It screens on 35mm with The Elephant Will Never Forget, an 11-minute 1953 short on a London tram's final run, in the season Great Expectations: British Postwar Cinema, 1945–1960.
