MIT Architecture Lecture: Ruth Mandl and Bobby Johnston
Ruth Mandl and Bobby Johnston discuss CO Adaptive, the “unbuild-design-build practice” they founded in 2011, and its work on adaptive reuse, high-efficiency retrofits, material salvage, remanufacturing and design for disassembly. The firm won the Architectural League’s Emerging Voices 2026, and its Mercury Store project appeared in MoMA’s New York, New Publics exhibition. Both are teaching a studio at MIT this fall; the lecture is also streamed on YouTube.
