Betty Morningstar: I Didn’t Know That I Didn’t Know You
Betty Morningstar reads from her memoir in essays, subtitled A Late Coming-of-Age Story, which follows a girl who at five announced she would be a ballerina and never marry, through the discovery of “an unimaginable family secret” to the recovery of her voice. Rooted in the 1950s and 1960s, the essays take in the women’s and LGBTQ+ movements, theories of mental illness, religion and #MeToo.
