Orthodox Jewish schoolgirls find a banned copy of The Merchant of Venice in a forgotten library and fasten on Jessica, the daughter who runs away. Shaina, most taken of all, has a crush on a Christian boy from her driver's-ed class, and the line between the play and her life begins to blur.
