David Ambaras, professor of history at North Carolina State University, speaks on Japanese dockworkers and the politics of international solidarity in the 1950s and 1960s, at a lunchtime seminar of Harvard’s Program on U.S.-Japan Relations co-sponsored by the Toshiba International Foundation. Ambaras is the author of Bad Youth, on juvenile delinquency in modern Japan, and Japan’s Imperial Underworlds. Christina L. Davis, the program’s director, moderates.
