Journalist Philip Eil looks at how AI is used to create and spread misinformation, including deepfakes and manipulated photos and video, and at how it is affecting society, whether local or national laws regulate it, and how to spot AI-generated content. Eil, a Providence freelancer and former news editor of the Providence Phoenix, wrote Prescription for Pain, about a once-promising doctor who became the “Pill Mill Killer.”
