Farida Shaheed, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to education, delivers Harvard Radcliffe Institute's Rama S. Mehta Lecture, discussing her advocacy for that right and her proposal to treat academic freedom as an autonomous human right. A sociologist and lifelong activist, Shaheed is executive director of Shirkat Gah—Women's Resource Centre in Pakistan and has spent decades working for the rights of women and girls.
