Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987), written and directed by John Hughes, follows Neal Page (Steve Martin), a fastidious Chicago advertising executive trying to get home for Thanksgiving after a snowstorm diverts his flight to Kansas. Stranded, he has to share motel rooms, trains and a rental car with Del Griffith (John Candy), a talkative travelling salesman of shower-curtain rings, and his composure frays mile by mile.
