History of the 54th Regiment
Members of the 54th Regiment, Company A, a living-history unit based in Hyde Park, give an overview of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, the Black regiment raised in 1863 under Colonel Robert Gould Shaw. It led the assault on Fort Wagner that July and is commemorated by the Shaw Memorial on Boston Common. The talk is hybrid, and moves to Zoom only if heavy snow falls.
