Stealing America: The Hidden Story of Indigenous Slavery in U.S. History
Linford Fisher discusses his new book, shortlisted for the Cundill History Prize, which traces the enslavement of Indigenous people from the years just after 1492, when it began "ensnaring an estimated three to six million Natives throughout the Americas," and the ways Native Americans fought for their sovereignty. Fisher is professor of history at Brown University and the author of The Indian Great Awakening.
