The Mary Eliza Project
Over 54,000 Boston women registered to vote in 1920, as ratification of the 19th Amendment approached, and clerks recorded them in more than 160 handwritten volumes. The Mary Eliza Project, a team of archivists and historians, turned those registers into a searchable dataset and talks about the Beacon Hill women it found among a new electorate that included women of color, immigrants and wage workers.
