Book Talk: Endgame of Empire: Sultan Khan, Asia's First Grandmaster
Atiyab Sultan discusses Endgame of Empire, the biography of Sultan Khan written by Khan's son and granddaughter. Khan, a self-taught prodigy from colonial Punjab, beat the world's best players in the late 1920s and '30s, won the British Chess Championship three times and became the first Asian to reach the top of international chess. The historian Ayesha Jalal, Mary Richardson Professor of History at Tufts, chairs.
