SCSB Colloquium: Jason Lerch on Biologically Informed Subgroups in Neurodevelopmental Disorders
Jason Lerch, professor of neuroscience at the University of Oxford's Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging, combines brain scans from 135 mouse models with two human MRI cohorts of more than a thousand people each to sort neurodevelopmental conditions by shared brain anatomy. The resulting subgroups cut across diagnoses such as autism, ADHD and OCD, aligning instead with a few molecular pathways, among them synaptic function and chromatin regulation.
