Bowie Cello Symphonic: Aura, Blackstar Visualized
Evan Ziporyn’s Blackstar, which recasts David Bowie’s final album as a cello concerto for Maya Beiser, was first heard in 2017. This version, Aura: Blackstar Visualized, adds an immersive video projection by Alex Rigopulos, co-creator of Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and the studio Secret Portal, with Beiser playing alongside the 20-plus musicians of Ambient Orchestra. Ziporyn and Beiser were founding members of the Bang on a Can All-Stars.
