Nathaniel Philbrick: The Rush
Nathaniel Philbrick discusses The Rush, which follows the California Gold Rush from the mining camps of the Sierra Nevada to the vigilance committees of San Francisco, and how “California's rise helped push a fractured nation toward war.” Philbrick won the National Book Award for In the Heart of the Sea, and Mayflower was a Pulitzer finalist. Jennifer Moore, senior features editor at GBH News, joins him.
